Question 1

How long should alt text be?

Accepted Answer

Keep it under 125 characters. Screen readers may cut off longer descriptions. Be concise but descriptive - convey what the image shows and why it matters.

Question 2

Should decorative images have alt text?

Accepted Answer

No. Purely decorative images should have an empty alt attribute (alt="") so screen readers skip them.
